This is an animated short by Brad Bird, director of "The Iron Giant," and "The Incredibles". The acting and animation is amazing. This originally aired in 1987 as an episode of "Amazing Stories." Tim Burton and Danny Elfman also had a nice hand in it. I really wish they had this somewhere on DVD. I appologize for the constant Youtube posts.

This was the absolute best episode of "Amazing Stories" as well, only two others even came close "Mummy, Daddy" and the one with Kevin Costner in the WWII bomber which was spoiled by the cartoon wheels at the end.
Anyway, when this first aired, I made everyone I knew watch it. My VHS tape from that time is sadly worn out.
I'd love to get a copy of this on DVD.
I had the pleasure of having dinner with Brad Bird and Bill Wray among others at the San Diego Comic Con the year "Iron Giant" came out, and it took all of my restraint not to go completely "fanboy" on him.
YouTube is the greatest invention in the world...well, and Brad Bird, of course.
There's so much great animation that seemingly has no hope of ever going to DVD, and the thing is, that entire episode of "Amazing Stories" was released on VHS --makes me wish I could go back to my video store days and snag a copy.

Call me crazy, but isn't NBC Universal planning to release all of episodes of Amazing Stories on DVD? I know the first season's coming in July and the second season is coming later on. Great show that is just primed for a comeback (after all, there aren't any family-friendly fantasy series on television anymore).
I'd like to see the complete Family Dog series myself. It's a shame the series didn't catch on like it should have (perhaps we should blame CBS on that one).
