The ART of G.I.JOE online

I came across this site after visiting Steve Lambey's blog. Seeing all of this G.I.Joe art again brought back a lot of childhood memories. The art showcased on this site is based on the toy packaging. A lot of good stuff on here catagorized by the year of it's release. CLICK HERE travel back in time.


I remember looking at my Joe toy list sheet and spotting "Blowtorch". I ventured every toystore at that time in search of this figure. I finally got him and was in fiery heaven.


I remember getting this vehicle for Christmas. HMMMMMmmm, I feel a throwback coming on.

Something I drew up some time ago. Jamal and Jada, Twin characters from one of my many projects. Thought I'd share it with my fellow artists. Illustrated on paper with pencil, colored in photoshop with a photo I took on a plane. Some color enhancements on the sky.

PRETTY FREEKIN SCARY books out NOW!!!!

Today I got my copies of the Pretty Freekin Scary books I illustrated along with fellow artist Carlos Villagra. The books came out pretty good. The story is dope as well (good read) Get online and grab a couple for you and your morbid friends.
We illustrated 4 books all together. The 3rd book below is coming out soon and is now available for preorder.

On another note. I got an illustration printed in this months issue of Animation Magazine.

There's an article about a new show I'm working on at AGP called Sushi Pack. I worked on the early development of the property based off of characters created by talented illustrator Leo Espinosa. I now pretty much design characters and approve show elements for each episode. Read the article below for more info on the show.

TINPO and AG Kidzone

Over the past year I did some early developement work with my team over at American greetings on some intersticials called Tinpo which now airs on CBS saturday mornings. THROWBACK THURSDAYS 31

I wanted to really clean this one up and go all out on the colors, but time did not permit. I used to enjoy watching the gummie bears get loaded up on Juice and bounce all over the place to save the day. I feel the same way when I drink Patron. I couldn't squease 2 of the bears into the composition (Grammi Gummi and Gruffi Gummi) The show had a pretty decent run of 95 episodes.

I scanned in a pic from my sketchbook of Hadji from Johnny Quest. I Netflixed the new JQ DVD's and sketched this out, it was fun to relive my childhood memories of watching this show. The style of the show was ahead of it's time with amazing designs by Alex Toth.

Breakdown BANANA Boogie

I decided to play with my food today. I got a little inspired when I saw Spacesick's "Food with faces" so for the past few days I have been doodling with the wacom over some food photos I took a while back. I'm taking it back to the OLD SCHOOL with a classic B-Boy theme. I popped in some classic breakdance dvd's like Beatstreet and Wild Style to get in the zone.

Sorry I haven't had a chance to sketch out any new Throwbacks this Thursday. I did however come across some old Top Cat pencil test animation from back in the day. It was a great chance to animate to the wonderful sounds of Louis Prima. I hope this can tide you over until next Thursday. Oh! don't forget to click the pause button at the beginning of this post header to silence the hip hop beats.

Shinji Hashimoto DEMO

I like good Anime, and from time to time I see scenes in one that blow me away. Come to find out, animator Shinji Hashimoto tackled a few of them. He was also the one who directed the animation in "Kids Story" from the Animatrix. I love his sketchy style of animation and the way he incorporates the handheld camera effect. I came across his demo reel on youtube and thought I'd share it with you.

Here are a few sketches of some shady characters for a project I'm working on. Just a couple of characters involved in a dice game outside a barber shop.

Just thought I'd go over these characters with some thicker brush lines. Below is another shady character.

How RICH can you get? You'll never know 'til you've met... RICHBOY RICHIE. Hanna-Barbera premiered "The Richie Rich Show" in 1980. Rappers, Ballers and shot callers don't know jack compared to the richest kid in the world. One of my favorites of the 80's. This kid had it made, mansion, yacht, Butler and his very own robot made(Irona). Oh, I forgot to mention his goofy dog dollar. I plan on doing some more sketches of this cartoon so keep checking back.
